Chiaravalloti Introduces Resolution Standing up for LGBT Civil Rights

Assemblyman Nicholas A. Chiaravalloti (D- Hudson) has introduced an Assembly resolution (AR 287) condemning the U.S Department of Justice’s brief filed on July 26th, 2017 that argues that the federal law against sex discrimination in employment doesn’t protect individuals from being fired because of their sexual orientation

“The Civil Rights Act was written to protect vulnerable populations from injustice and discrimination. The Department of Justice chose to intervene in the 2nd U.S Circuit Court of Appeals without any urging from the court or any party… This unsolicited brief is turning back the clock on all the progress we made in government towards a more inclusive society.”
