Assemblyman Nicholas Chiaravalloti (D-Hudson) issued the following statements:
“Bayonne lost one of its great unsung heroes with the passing of John Hughes. John was a mentor and a friend, not only to myself, but to literally thousands of young men and women in our community through his dedicated service with the Boy Scouts, soccer, and many other passions. He made a point of providing advice and counsel to many young attorneys. It’s difficult to put in words the positive impact that John has had on Bayonne. I doubt he fully understood how important he was to so many people. That was not his nature. John may not have grabbed headlines but he was a part of the foundation that makes Bayonne such an incredible community. My deepest condolences to his family. ”
